I like the bike but the thing that puts me off is "halfords"
In the years ive missed cycling is it true they now make some decent spec kit because it looks good!

as long as you check over all that they do if you choose to have them put it together or do what it looks like the OP did and build it yourself at home it'll be fine. i think GT stopped selling through them cos they were poo, but the you can't beat the boardmans for spec and value for money (and halfords are the sole distributor i think)0 -
I don't have any particular axe to grind with Halfords - the ordering process was painless, and I decided to build it myself because I like to get mucked in and actually really enjoyed building it myself.
Wouldn't have any hesitation recommending the bike to anyone, and as the poster above states, if you've any qualms over Halfords the either get the bike checked post-collection or do it yourself. The bike build itself was really just a matter of unwrapping bits and fitting them together. In value-for-money terms, the spec is great, even more so now they're doing some offers due to the forthcoming 2011 range.'03 Specialized HR Comp

sweet, you know i'm very tempted to buy one of these, however i'm not sure if 120mm travel is enough for what i might end up doing with it...0

Some updated 'final' pics of the Boardman which is regrettably now up for sale
Superstar floating rotors added since last pics - upgraded to 180mm front too.
