xo rear mech and xt casstte

are they compatible? seeing as the xo shifters and mech are 1-1 :?

    Yes, are fine if both the shifter speed matches the number of cassette cogs (and now the shifter matches the mech as 9 and 10 speed shifters/mechs are not cross compatible)

    yes - the X0 mech will work with the XT cassette.

    you need to have the correct shifter for the X0 as the Shimano ones will not work due to different amount of cable pull per gear.

    Am i right in saying that it's the chain type you need to match to the cassette manufacturer?

    nope.
    So i could use the sram chain thats barely used off my old bike with the shimano cassette on my new bike?

    Damn, i'd forgotten my vulcan was 8 speed. Oh well lol
