Predictions for 2011

So what if any predictions do you have for 2011?
I have the wildly speculative predictions of Hushovd winning Roubaix at last, Wiggo winning Pais Vasco, Igor Anton coming of age and winning Fleche Wallone before taking the Giro, Sky wining a TdF stage and Wiggo coming top 5 with Gesink in white, Soler in the polka dot, Cav in green and Basso in yellow.
Then the Vuelta being won by Soler or J-Rod and the Worlds coming home with the boy Cav.
Now watch me change my mind during the PTP for 2011
I wonder what odds I would get for an accumulator on that once I make my mind up on the Vuelta?

    Cavendish for MS-R

    Haussler for Flanders

    Boonen - Roubaix.

Liege - toughest 1 dayer to predict - You'd have to say Pip is the favourite, though whether he can pull it off....

Giro? Can't bet against Nibs with the lack of competition?

Tour? Virtually sown up already - Schleck

    Vuelta? Nibs again.

    Worlds? Cav

Lombardy? Gilbert, since he's the only one who cares.

Having said all that, I think it's not totally unforeseeable to see Boonen get either MSR - Flanders, or Flanders Roubaix.

It'd involve a lot of luck and a lot of hoping from my end mind...

Going to stick my neck out and say Schleck won't win the Tour.
    He'll come second. Again.

Winner will likely be A. Contador, returned to the sport after his 5 day ban, or Basso.

Richie Porte will win Paris Nice
    EBH will win MSR
    Gilbert will win Flanders
    Hincapie will win PR
    Nibali will win Giro again
Ryder Hesjedal will win the Tour
    LLS will win the Vuelta
    Martin will win Lombardy
    Cav will win the worlds

    Hincapie will win PR?

Nah, he'll be soloing towards the velodrome, with a 30 second lead, when a psychotic gerbil will run out in front of him, he'll go flying over the handlebars and break his collar bone.

He'll finally cross the line in 56th place to wild applause.

For it is written in the stars/entrails/Nostrodamus that Hincapie will never win PR.

I predict that Cav won't finish the tour or indeed be seen again as he will be mysteriously kidnapped whilst pootling along in the autobus (wearing green) somewhere in the Vendee region.

Tusher, have you read John Fowles' 'The Collector'?

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

Not yet, although I have just read the synopsis on Wiki (so the book probably has an entirely different ending. A happy ending, purrhaps).

I have yet to work out the logistics of dragging Cav back to the tent, never mind the long trip north to his new home, or whether or not the assorted nieces and nephews we're taking with us will notice.

But I'm convinced the Rev Tusher will be oblivious to the Manxman in the tent.

It's actually a really miserable and disturbing book... one to save for a rainy day I think.

No. You didn't miss anything. You did in fact stumble upon my huge, glaring and somewhat embarrassing error.

    - Cavendish will get beaten in a sprint by Greipel and the TdU and get really moody about it. Pro-Cav people will say he wears his heart on his sleeve, anti-Cav's will say it further confirms their stance he's a bell end.
    - EBH will perform well in boring early season races in desert countries
    - Boonen will win Het Volk
    - LLS will win a dull edition of Paris-Nice
    - Petacchi will take MSR if he's not banned
    - Boonen for Flanders
    - Petey Sagan for Roubaix
    - DDL or Ricco for Amstel Gold
    - Cadel Evans for LBL
    - Scarponi will win the Giro
    - Frank Schleck will finish higher in the Tour than Andy
    - Thor will retain his WC title
    - Tony Martin will manage to beat Chinny in a couple of TT's
    - Someone elderly and bald on Radioshack will win the AToC
    - Contador will enjoy sunning himself in Pinto while sharing a cocktail with Manolo Saiz
    - A number French races will collapse
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

    Boonen for Flanders Ian?

    Yeah!

Cav for M-SR and WC, Boonen for Flanders, Hushovd for Roubaix. Evans for L-B-L and F-W, Gilbert for Amstel Gold. Roger Hammond will win G-W.

Little Schleck will win the TdF because nobody will get near him in the mountains and Contador will be serving a ban. Menchov for the Giro d'Italia, Anton for the Vuelta.

Paris-Nice will go to Wiggins, Pais Vasco to Sammy Sanchez. Peter Sagan will get Clasica San Sebastian and Damiano Cunego will once again reign supreme in Lombardy. Freire to repeat his success at Paris-Tours.

I'll second-guess Ian and suggest that Canc will be trying to get his head around the hilly classics.

Like 2008-9 when he was getting his head around Flanders.

    Yeah!

One feels it is one's responsibility to point out Iain's record in the Pro Tour Pundit competition before agreeing with his predictions.

    Predictions

    Basso to win the TDF
Andy Schleck will keep waiting for frankie boy in the mountains, not gain enough time,& Basso will get him in the hilly TT near Grenoble.

Hincapie to win Roubaix? Don't make me laugh.Saw him there (& Flanders) this year,& the guy is positively anorexic.Too light for Roubaix, now.
    so many cols,so little time!
