Hello,
Seen as the weather is so bad in our neck of the woods its time to service the bike and I could do with some new jockey wheels for my Spicy 316 09. My bike has the standard slx shadow rea deraileur. Have looked on chain reaction and there are many different types of jockey wheel XT XTR LX etc etc. All I know is I need a 9sp, guide and tension pulley (top and bottom) Can someone point me in the right direction or will any shimano pulley fit.

I went the carbon fiber route even the backplate, very light, with sealed ceramic bearings on the jockey wheels, jap made silky smooth, but after a year the carbon bonding to the bearings let go...
This time i went for KCNC ceramic bearings ally jockeys silky smoth and look pimpSantacruz Heckler - 2010

I have a Shimano XT Shadow derailleur and after shelling out some ridiculous amount for a pair of XT jockey wheels, the next time around I purchased the LX/M570 version for about £3 each. They seem to wear at about the same rate as the more expensive XT wheels. Maybe they aren't as smooth but I haven't noticed any difference.
My lower jockey wheel becomes a sharp ninja throwing star after 6 months or so riding in the mud and I am curious if the KCNC wheels last longer?0 -
The mech is all about the jockey wheels really, for the rest of the mech apart from weight, there isn't really any difference between a deore and an XT. So if you put cheap wheels on you are really down grading the mech.
Having said that, while I like my KCNCs I'm not sure they are 5 times better0 -
I found my KCNC jockey wheels to be junk killed them after 5-6 months my AFC Bikes ones are ace still smooth and 1/2 the weight of Kcnc ones winner0
