Hi.
Contemplating upgrading my Deore F&R shifters, so I've been looking at the new XT ones but then I saw the SLX version, which seem to have the very similar "Features".

will i notice any difference in the world away from spec. sheets, out on the bike?

Does anyone know what the XT's have to offer over and above the SLX's?

thanks

    more money? thats all.

SLX, whip the shifter windows off, light as you are going to get without going XTR or something, and cheaper than XT to boot

    Why whip the windows off?

    1] Who needs them?

2] Allows more freedom of placement on the bars, inside or outside the brake levers.
  • XT shifters feel a lot Nicer than Slx, a lot crisper, less movement to shift and are generally better,
having ridden slx on the demo bikes at the lbs a fair bit and then jumping back on mine with Xt there is a nice difference in them,

if you can then go for the XT,
oh, and the XT's are compatible with Hope/avid matchmaker clamps too, (not sure if the slx are??)

The spec sheet is as far as it goes.

I have both xt and slx on 2 bikes and feel/shift totally diffrent.

The xt feels very solid, smooth and crisp and the slx will feel very similar to your deores so wont be much of an upgrade.
