Hey guys. I'm looking to buy my first DH bike and I've got about £1500-£2000 to spend. I'm not overly fused if the bike is second hand because it'll no doubt take a few knocks.

I've had a look around and there are a few bikes that I quite like.

Firstly, a 2010 Scott Voltage FR30. Now I know it doesn't have DC forks, but, I was talking to one of the guys in Dales and he said that with a few changes it could make a decent first DH bike. Cost - £1249 which leaves me £750 to buy some DC forks and a bigger shock + mounts.

Secondly, a Saracen Myst. It is a bit over my budget but I saw one at Fort William this year and it says it's race ready, however the spec is poorer than my third bike. Cost - £2299

Thirdly, the bike which I think is probably the best value for money here. A YT-Industries Tues. The spec, I think, is pretty decent for the money. Boxxer R2C2 fork, Vivid R2C shock, Code brakes, X9 gearing...Only problem is that there are no retailers in the UK. I checked out the geometry and it is almost identical to my mates TR450 so I thought if I tried out his bike it would feel similar to the Tues, at least in geometry terms, not overall ride. Cost - £1800-£1900, I don't know if this includes shipping charges, but there's an * saying "Price quotation incl. legal VAT and addtional shipping costs" so I'm guessing it does.

I'd like to try out a few races as well once I get into it a bit more, probably try the SDA races and some other local ones.

So, has anyone ridden/owned any of the bikes here and which one would you recommend for someone starting out in DH.

Thanks in advance,
Ryan.
