Are you named after anyone?

I was wondering if anyone here - real names - is named after anyone? First name, middle name, famous person, family member - it doesn't matter.
I ask this as I'm named Richard after the largely boring, anti-semitic, opera composer Richard Wagner, which I've never really been happy about. My dad is a huge fan and slipped that one passed my mother. By contrast my brother is called Alistair because it was the first name in the A-Z of baby names that neither of them disliked (despite the 5 year old me lobbying hard for Paddington).

I'm 4th generation eldest son to have my middle name and my eldest is 5th gen to have it.
Next son's middle name is Ford as in Prefect from Hitch Hikers guide - and it goes well with his first name.
Got 1 dog called Dante after Alighieri and another called Barnstoneworth after an episode of Ripping Yarns. Mrs wouldn't let me call a child Barnstoneworth.0 -

The rule in our family is that the first name must not be name used in the previous 2 generations, and the middle name is a name from the previous generation.
Having said that, my name isn't actually Rick Chasey.
That would be a rubbish name.0 -
My middle name is Frank after my grandad. I was very embarrassed as a young chap but I really like it now.0

My middle name is taken from one of my dads friends who is a big hotel owner in Sri Lanka, bit random but does mean we get cheap hotel rooms when on holiday!0

My gran always believed my middle name was chosen because it was her dad's name. My folks never had the heart to tell her it was purely coincidence, it was actually so that I had the same initials as my mum. If I was born a girl I would have had the same initials as my dad. It wasn't until I pointed it out in my teens that they realised that I could actually pay some cheques actually mean for my mum into my bank account
Apparently when I was just a bump my dad, who is very much into classic cars, used to tell people I was going to be called Austin Morris and no-one knew if he was serious or not.0 -
My surname and nickname are the same as the greatest rugby union coach of all time but that's just coincidence
Our dog was called Rosie after the rag doll of Rosie and Jim fame by our then 3 year old daughter. My first dog was called Bruce after Bruce Wayne!0 -
I wasn't named after anyone, but it so happens that I have the same name as the last court jester in England, Thomas Skelton of Muncaster Castle, Cumbria. Apparently he was a friend of William Shakespeare

Frank is my Dads name and he wanted that to be my middle name, Mum said no so they settled on the closest sounding Saints name and re my first name they argued over it until settling on the closest Saints day to my Birthday.0 -

Yeah, he can drive one potty after a while (after 30 mins, never mind hours ) - he is a genius of the highest order though. It's going to be along time before anyone matches him in that field.
My family name originates from Northumberland 1200-1250 approx (apparently) - first name - same as a Saint.0 -

The missus insisted we give our youngest (of twin boys) the middle name Gunson, her mum's family name, as it will die out with her uncle who's 70 odd and only had a daughter - he'll get some pain for that in future years, a lot of it from me2011 Bianchi D2 Cavaria in celeste (of course!)
