are any of you guys or girls a bike messenger, it seems a quite cool job to do as a backup when at uni/when i get out on the off chance of no job to go to. whats the best sort of way to go about becoming one? the whole culture and way it works is facinating if you could shed some light on anything about the job and what it really entales that would be brilliant!

many thanks!

  • I looked into this and spoke to a few people who had done it / are doing it / knew someone how was. I get the impression that basically you are on your own.
Flyer round businesses that you think might need your services. It strikes me it's not something you can't just walk into, you have to spend a while building up your business.

Though this is Manchester I'm talking about, it might be completely different in London or anywhere else. I thought about concentrating on Oldham/ Ashton/ Stockport so not to trend on anyone elses business. I've decided to forget about it and just go down the whole returning to university route... might have to rethink that though.

There was a thread over on commuting chat about this a month or so ago. Couple of ex-messengers involved.
