All,

I know that this comes up regularly so apologies for not dredging back through the old posts.

A mate of mine was knocked off his bike yesterday, and I wanted to pass on some of the possible contacts if he wanted to persue compensaton (he suffered a fairly nasty injury - but should be OK long term). I think its unlikely he has any of the normal memberships that help out in this case.

Thanks for any advice you can give that I can pass on

Drew

I am with the ctc solicitors. If you have a good case they take over and tell you what to do.
Tell him to write down now everything and keep all receipts and information. photograph all visible injuries and keep a diary of progress. keep all clothing and bike lights and photo them and keep scans of all documents , e.g. police statement.
check with the police what they are going to do about the driver. Do not be soft on the driver, it looks as though you might be feeling it did not really matter or you feel partly responsible. After all, the worst the court will do to the driver that nearly killed a cyclist through a lifetime of habitual carelessness amounts to a couple of weeks motoring expenses.
get ready to counter attempts by the opposition who will try to say you were careless or not properly dressed or lit or just tell straight lies: even as I lay in the road possibly dying I heard the driver, whom I saw hit me, say I appeared to fall off my bike!
A bystander witnees would be fantastic if one can be found.
