6g per day for healthy adult?

I think I've already consumed that on the commute into work. Roads are a slush-fest, yeuch

I thought it was nearer 2g per day?

Anyway - if you sweat loads you'll probably need some salty goodness - I tend to find myself cramping up in the evenings if I don't get the shaker out onto my evening meal.

If you sweat 1 liter, you lose approx 0.75g of salt (apparently, who knows if this site is any good)

2.3g sodium, sodium is 40% of salt so ~6g salt (NaCl)

I saw my GP about a random foot cramp I've been getting for the last couple of years and he said I was doing the right thing by having a pack of salty crisps when I'm on a long ride even though I very rarely put salt on my food (other than chips, natch).

My doc recommended doing some stretches (boring) which I now do (when I remember) and the cramps have pretty much stopped.

No idea how much salt I ingest, but I don't each much processed food, so probably less than 'the average' person.

I'm really considering taking up Yoga again, lots of stretching in Yoga.
