  • was very icy at the weekend... its been -11 up there today (I work about 10 mins away) and there was a bit of rain yesterday!
  • cheers may wait till later in week then supposed to warm up a bit
  • Yeh i was there the other day, and most of the trail is under a inch think of sheet ice. tre interesting :s
  • as above, about 75% of the trails ice. was funny, but wouldnt want to haul up there again and find it the same. i'll be giving it a miss for a while until weathers better
  • Was at Cwmcarn today (started off at about 12:30) and there's still patches of ice on the way up hill. It's mostly on the trails alongside the river (when the river's on your right). Some of it I couldn't even stand up on, let alone ride a bike - one comedy fall into a tree as the wheels went away from under me :oops:

    The rest of the trails were pretty much clear and were dry with loads of grip. Great fun!!

    Temp was about 6C and the weather was great, see below;

    Yes Kev, it was great - only the 2nd time I've been there but enjoyed it much more than the first because of the dry trails - they were quite wet the first time I was there and my tyres kept slipping on the rocks - made me nervous!

    Only saw one other guy there - an old guy that overtook me going uphill :oops:

    We'll have to sort it next year, you can teach me how to be brave enough to get some air on the black section at the top!!

    i agree, i can pretty much see the freeride section of cwmcarn from my house and i have 6 inches of snow, so there's bound to be more on top of the trails :(
  • Director phoned me again...

    He cleared the snow off his car at 8am... its now covered in over a foot of snow again! (based in caerphilly)
  • this is central Cardiff so I dread to think what its like up in the mountains!

    My car (the 206) was clear of snow at 9am lol.

  • I know it's not helpful, but how smug do I feel after managing to get that ride around Cwmcarn in on Wednesday :D

    That being said, I have to drive down from Manchester to Dorset tomorrow morning to see the folks for an early Xmas - let's hope that the snow doesn't get too heavy.
