About to go and buy a 2010 Boardman Sport (boxed of course as I dont want Halfords touching it... ) and was wondering what would you change on the bike straight away?
I'm thinking of tyres / pedals?

Buy and change???
Buy a better bike if you're going to change anything bar the things you list..
Pedals and tyres only. The rest when it breaks.0 -
Why not add a little extra and just get the Comp? Will be worth it in the long run.
The comp is a much better bike straight out of the box.0 -
Nah... Budget was originally £350 tops... I have already increased it twice to afford the Boardman Sport.
Pedals, etc will be presents from family... Will update components when they break...
Also need to consider kit such as helmet, etc which I don't have a clue about...2009 Carrera Fury0 -
helmet - whichever fits best. try before you buy.
get a baselayer if you're riding in the current weather. sports direct are lonsdale baselayers for £3 at the moment and they're really good!0 -
Ok cool.
Baselayer not an issue... I'm an all year round motorbike man so have lots of stuff like that for keeping warm2009 Carrera Fury0 -
I got Halfords to put these pedals on when I purchased my Boardman Team FS.
They're very good pedals for the price.

Wellgo MG-1s are good flat pedals. You could also get clipless pedals...
You might want to change some of the finishing kit-bars, saddle etc, but these are all down to personal preference.
If it comes with continental speed kings like the website suggests, these are very light, so any change in tyres would only make it heavier.0 -
Well I landed up a Fury in the end... that already has Wellgo pedals...2009 Carrera Fury0

Nice one!
The fury has better forks than the boardman, so you did well.0 -
I agree, is a better allround bike.0

The rockshox 318's better than epicons then?2009 Carrera Fury0

In some ways - stiffer, better damper, but not as adjustable and heavier.0

Given I have no idea how to adjust them anyway and the fact I'm a 14 stone lard arse I won't mInd too much... Lol2009 Carrera Fury0 -
Why not ride it and then just upgrade the bits that you don't like?Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

RS 318 are very very good forks, Suntour stuff is very hit and miss. Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?0

Suntour epicon on the fury is very good for the money though.
Well that depends... the Epicon on the current Fury is going to cost £595 atm ...
I paid £380 for the Fury with the Rockshox Tora 318's ... quite a big price difference.2009 Carrera Fury0
