    Given that Christmas is fast approaching, I'd go by the same guidelines recommended for festive turkeys - ensure full defrosting before proceeding any further. ;)

    Apparently at the North of England 'cross championship on Sunday, it was -9 degrees C when the competitors started arriving at HQ. Race itself was held in "Christmas card" conditions;

    Very pretty and all that, but rather those guys than me. I was in the same part of the Lakes in May for a mate's wedding and it was warm and sunny - you couldn't get a bigger contrast in weather!

    Based on my own experiences at Bicton on Sunday, +1 to that. Keeping warm afterwards is the tough bit. I was lucky; 11-mile ride back to the nearest station immediately after the event and then 3 hours on a nice warm train, so never got the chance to cool off appreciably.

    Start sheet is out, so no longer possible to enter the event.

    Shropshire-based Wrekinsport run a club 10 on 1st January which they call 'Wonky Wheeler'. It's on the Waters Upton course (on the A442 North of Telford), and fancy dress is encouraged. I believe temperatures have been below freezing for both of the last two years.
