Hi all,
Having only just ordered a new Orange, a work colleague has recently bought a new bike for her partner: cut a long story short it all ended rather suddenly and the bike has been offered to me at a fraction of the asking price (i reckon they're around £1200 RRP)
Just wondered what Cube bikes were like and whether it would put up with some decent hammering around my fav xc circuit/long rides out in Derbyshire etc
I have found Cube are German made so i'm assuming the build quality should be to a high standard. The model looks ok too - it has a 100mm Fox fork and the components look ok?
Any one have one? Any thoughts welcome btw
Thanks!

They're becoming more popular, Cube have only been in the UK for 4 or so years IIRC
Decent bikes, the LTD range is well specced for the money & had a good geometry for XC/marathon riding. 2011 LTD range is from £819 to £1099
My Cube isn't a hardtail, but it is awesome
Nice collection of Orange's too Andyt1054, my Cube AMS Pro100 has handled nearly everything my Five can do, in a slightly more wheels on the ground style of riding...0 -
hi i have the ltd race 09 and im more than happy with it, it has coped with everything thats been thrown at it and more, it worh the rrp so if you are getting it for a fractoion then it would be rude not to0

I have a 09 Ltd race and think its a great bike, but be aware it has a very racey riding position.
It was a perfect bike for blasting around sherwood pines and has taken a battering riding in the peaks week in week out for the last year, but I have now decided that the geometry just doesn't suit me and this this type of riding . This of course may not be an issue for you as I see you have a few bikes that would easily cater for this type of riding.0 -
I had a Cube LTD Pro as my former bike, and handled things pretty well, but wasn't really suited to the trails that I quickly progressed to.
While having the bike, it was quite a good bike. Climbed very well, handled some decent rooty areas quite well even with only 100mm manitou minute forks up front, and the spec was quite good, especially for the price. I couldn't really fault it.
Almost wish I hadn't sold it, as I could have a built a very nice light weight bike out of it to do some proper XC on, but I bought my FS and was in debt to the mrs so needed to sell it to recoup costs.0 -
Nice one! thanks for all the responses 8)
I went into work today and paid up for the bike, cant wait till tommorrow when i pick it up now
Just wish all this snow would melt so i can go for a blast 8)0 -
Hi,
My local shop is a main dealer for Cube and Carver, both German bikes. Of all the people I asked, Cube are the better of the two and I have just bought a Cube LTD Comp, a model or two down from yours.
Having lived in Germany for quite a while, I asked around before buying and the answers I got were almost unanimous - buy Cube, as they are solid bikes with a big following. When I bought mine, it turns out the salesman's own ride was also a Cube hardtail. Always buy the same watch the jeweler has, right?0 -
hi, looking at purchaing a new bike i currently have a gt agressor mtb , i like the look of
the cube range , but not sure which one, can anyone give me advice, i do about 40 to
50 miles ,on a sunday around 75% on road and 25% off road with alot of hill climbs
so want something for all round use, my buget is upto 1500, was looking at the
cube reaction 2011 pro, at 1349 pounds, but not sure if this would be the right one
for me , there maybe cheaper cubes that may be better for my type of rides, so can
anyone give me advice which may suit .thanks0 -
yes gazcop, i have a gt aggressor to. i think that the best hardtail bikes for around £1000 are the boardman hardtail pro and the cube ltd team. they both have a good spec for the money but the boardman has won alot of awards as you can see on their website (http://www.boardmanbikes.com/mtbht/ht_Pro.html)0
