Anyone know how the new softstrap differs from the previous softstrap?? i understand it no longer needs you to wet it and has different electrodes??

also any ideas where you can buy this? the edge 800 comes with the new premium strap but i cant see it anywhere to buy seperately.

I have it but unfortunately have not used the previous one. I bought from handtec.

The other half uses the new 'premium' type, I still use the old type. She says the new one is more comfortable.

The new one has the electrodes for measuring your HR in the elastic strap. The transmitter/battery holder is a separate part from the strap/electrodes ane the two parts are joined with two press-studs rather than the electrodes being part of the battery/transmitter part on the old one.

The new one is thinner, more flexible and lighter.

I don't know what Garmin recommend but I still think wetting the electrodes will help get a more accurate HR before you start sweating as the techology for measuring HR is the same.

[edit] just re-read the OP. Sorry, didn't realise there was a 'new' soft strap. I though the soft strap was the new strap!
