Hi all,
My Marzocchi 44 rlo (2010) has been returned to Windwave for warranty work, due to needing a new pumping rod.It a known problem, not a problem which makes the fork inoperable, just a clicking noise some of the time.

Any way,the fork has been with windwave for almost 4 weeks, the parts are on back order. In the warranty book it states repair or replace within 30 days of receipt of item.I phoned windwave and they tell me there is nothing they can do, I just have to wait and they wont just replace the fork, they will try and repair first.Im wanting to get out and ride but can not due to this delay.

Am I being palmed off?
What are my rights?

Cheers.

Its reasonable time they go by. If its another week phone em up and be nice about saying its been over a month and see if they can sort something out. Always be nice about it.

If it says 30days in the warranty then that is the reasonable time for repair or replacement, contact trading standards as this is an inherent fault and should be sorted far quicker than it has been. The distributors should replace the fork if they have them in stock and take issue with the manufacturer if they are not getting parts.

Why are MTB economics; spend twice as much as you intended, but only half as much as you wish you could afford?

Just off the phone with windwave, office in Italy is not back at work until tomorrow. As the spares parts come via Italy,it can take a long time, quoted the 30 day time scale in the warranty.
I also pushed the guy on the phone to email and ask Marz for a replacement fork rather than a repair as he could not tell me when the parts may be expected, could be well after Christmas.

    Fingers crossed then.

Where did you buy the fork from? The retailer should be sorting this for you.
  • I took my bike back to the shop on 23rd of October as my Marzocchi forks were faulty, they were sent away to Windwave and i didn't get the bike back until the 26th November. That's 5 weeks!

I was given the same story about waiting for parts. Very frustrating when i missed out on a lot of riding only to be given the bike back when it's -4 and snowing! I also pay for the bike on the CTWS so i actually paid about £50 that month for my bike to be in a shop.

    Oh well.

    Fixed.

Windwave are good guys but do have problems with stock and sending stuff out on time (or what you believe to be on time).

Quick update, was on the phone with windwave this morning. They are having problems getting certain spares from Italy,I was told it was going to be around February before they got the parts for my fork.

So they are replacing the whole fork for a 2011 model.

    Cant grumble at that.
  • With most places you do end up happy with the service in the long run, as the 2011 model is on its way, so be happy at that :)
