I have Maxxis Ardent on the rear and ADvantage on the front from http://www.nextdaytyres.com/
came in at around £40 IIRCMy Website - Trail Centre info for the UK: MTB Trail Time0 -

Make sure you don`t sacrifice tyre quality.Better to spend more on tyres if possible as its about the biggest influence you can make to ride quality.
Having said that Maxxis offer decent performance on a budget.2006 Giant XTC
2010 Giant Defy Advanced
2016 Boardman Pro 29er
2016 Pinnacle Lithium 4

I agree. The difference between an entry level tyre and the top of the range may only be 20 to 30 quid. Compare that to a fork, frame, or even something small like a stem, and the extra is usually well worth it. You get lighter kevlar beads, and usually stronger, but lighter sidewalls too and improved compounds.0

£40 ought to get you a set of proper folding bead Nevegal 2.1s, DTC for the rear, stick-e for the front, sorted. No sacrifice of quality there.Uncompromising extremist0
