Decided to be a slave to the name and get Santa to add these to my xmas list but totally bamboozled by the choice.
Mostly to be used on the bike but would mind being able to wear them day to day without looking silly.

Looked at Half Jacket and Full Jacket any other ideas/preferences appreciated.

if you want them for looking good off the bike get the Flak Jacket XLJs. I have Jawbones and wear on and off the bike but must say i am very self concious wearing the Jawbones off the bike as like the Radars they are big. In any case get a set of yellow lenses for the winter as they really do help when riding in dim light.
  • Split jackets are jawbone esque on the bike and stylish enough off it...

    and now available on custom...

I want to get some Jaw Bones, but the cost... ouch!
  • Jawbones are worth the expense - great glasses.

Get some proper casual glasses too though, can't wear on the bike glasses off the bike.
  • I'd say Half Jackets and Flak Jackets are the best for on and off the bike.

Radars and Jawbones are better on the bike but I wouldn't ware them around town and the reviews of the Split Jacket seem to say that it's not all that good on the bike as the smaller lenses (vs the Jawbones) mean the frame gets in the way a bit. No idea if it's a bad problem though so if anyone owns some a review would be good...

Half Jackets are slightly wider than the Flak Jacket which is why I have the latter. Standard lenses off the bike and XLJ on, they're great glasses.
  • Think its between the Flak Jacket and Split Jacket, love the Jawbones but could not wear them just out and about.

Maybe Mrs Jelly can be talked into Jawbone for the bike and sone Flak Jacket for general use?

I've used Radars and Jawbones. Radars are by far the best glasses I've ever used. I would say the jawbones are by far the inferior product.

Alot of people would say get yellow lenses for winter, I find they make me feel sick after a few hours in the saddle. Although, saying that, they're good for helping with depth perception whilst riding at night with a white light. I'd say radards with a second lense of vented clear is the best choice and my personal favourite.

Best thing is to go and try loads on. As above, I've got a small head so need to choose wisely. Been looking at the flak jackets/half with blue iridium lenses :).

    Good prices here

I wear Jawbones, on and off the bike.
But I'm now deliberating over Gascan-v-Fuelcan for street wear...

Bought Oakley Whisper last week with prescription transition lenses. These seem versatile for off-bike use. Jawbones didn't quite suit the shape of my skull, so tried suggest trying all types, then go back to the internet to get best price.
  • Hi there
Just so you know - I'm sponsored with Rudy Projects to ride with but I am an old school Oakley fan, since the day I got my first pair (Mumbos with V lenses) back in 1992. I used to use Radar's on the bike and for street wear I use Hijinx. They're similar in style to the Gascans but the lenses are a slightly more oval.
As for price, well, since Oakley has become more mainstream so the prices have gone up. To some extent I see this as trying to keep the brand aspirational.
    Cheers

Jawbones (got em cheap from eyewear outlet ) on the bike and Gascan's everywhere else
  • M Frames for the bike (and running). Ok I'm over 35.. But the fit and function of the glasses is superb. They are not around for 20 years for nothing.. Black Fives squared (at least I think thats what they are called) for off the bike.
