Which Vittoria clinchers for UK roads?

Title says it all really, quite like the look of the EVO Corsa but am worried they will not be that tough.... looking for something similar in hard wearing nature to the Conti 4000's and about the same weight but with a bit more feel to them.

Not keen on the paves (unless they do them in all black?)....

Suggestions?

Thanks

Cycling plus reviews gave (for winter tyres):

Zaffiro Pro Techs 5 - slashed easy and not that tough
Rubino Pro Tech 7 - only "fair" puncture protection

Best buy was the michelin krylion carbon with the Schwalbe Durano Plus and the Conti Gator hardshells scoring well.
  • CX's have always been tough enough for me.

Rubino Pros get my vote for an all around tyre.

having very little dosh so not really having a great choice in the matter, got myself a set of Zaffiro Pros a year back and have never looked back! Great tyres for the price, reasonably light, roll really well and never had a problem with them at all .... am interested in the Rubinos next as they look like a step up ....

Bog standard Rubinos with the wire bead have done alright for commuting on the fixed gear for me.

Rubino Pros are well liked as all-rounders though I've not tried them personally.

Open Corsa EVO CXs are a lovely tyre for serious roadie stuff and racing. Durability is hard to evaluate as it's so subjective (and I'm a light rider anyway) but they don't seem noticeably better or worse than any other high end tyre and I've had one on the front of my good bike for at least 1500 miles and it still looks great. I think I've had one puncture on it despite riding on crap roads and during the winter but it was a very sharp thorn or something that likely would have gone through any tyre.

Open corsa evo cx, i swapped from conti 4000s which i've sworn by, and they're as good if not better, plenty of grip and no punctures yet(probably luck).

The corsas are a lovely summer tyre but my observation (I weigh circa 13.5 stone which may explain!) is that they are not a robust tyre - they wear quickly, puncture easily and generally feel very flimsy when fixing punctures. BUT they are a lovely tyre to ride on. My next attempt at getting to the tyre world sweet spot will be the pave and I'll just have to live with the green thing! If that fails next spring, I'll be looking towards conti 4000s - at the moment I am using their 4 seasons which is a more tractor like version of the 4000s - great for covering you with spray if you haven't got mudguards fitted!

I reckon the corsa may be a goer with my 68Kg on top of them (plus 6.9 for the bike).....

The Open Paves are my favourite tyre for general use. Fantastic! The Corsas are fast but for racing / good days only...

Daft to dismiss a tyre just cos it's not all black.
Definitely not the Corsa for winter, from what i've heard, if you want hard wearing.

Had Rubino Pros for a while, they are light, fast and grip well but puncture wwaayyy to easily...including slashed sidewalls

Changed to Krylions over 2,000 mile ago and they have not punctured one since. The front still shows the mould marks!

Their grip in the wet is not as good as the Rubinos though

I switched to Corsa EVO CX's this year - lovely to ride for sure, but three times I had a tyre get a cut, right on the main thread, and then a few rides later the inner pops right through and the tyre is finished. Conti 4000's seem to handle little nicks a lot better. And it's not like the streets of Luxembourg are pot-holed, or paved with broken glass either.

Open-Paves. Brilliant tyre. I like the funky green sidewalls but the current range are only coloured on the rolling center anyway and probably won't stay that way long.

There was supposed to be a black Open Pave but it never made it to the market except in a special 2 pack the year Cancellara first won PR. i got one and it retailed at I think £50 which now makes me wish I'd bought a few more. New one has increased tpi but seems expensive.

Michelin for me, PRs for summer and krylion carbons for winter use. Have done for years.

Wouldn't worry about Open Corsas longevity. I had a pair of Open Corsa Evo CXs on my bike from February this year, got about 2500+miles out of them, no punctures, and i ride on some crap roads.

Found them much better than GP4000S tyres.
  • Another vote for Open Pros. I changed to them about 3000 miles ago and I don't think I have had a puncture yet. They roll well and the grip is excellent. Not too expensive either.
