Single track, Fire tracks etc around the wolds.
Hi all,
Since iam new to mtb, iam still unsure where to bike around the wolds,
If i end up biking on my own i normally stick to the roads, from cleethorpes, around wold newton, tetney and back home.
Iam right in thinking that single and fire tracks are like through fares through farmers fields.
How do you if you are aloud on the lands. ??
I would to mix it up abit, specially as i am getting a FS next week. (hopefully)
Could anyone from around them parts give me a few pointers.
Many thanks Will

Hi there,
were you asking how you know if you are allowed on land?
If so then as far as I am aware you can ride on public bridleways. Public footpaths are out of bounds, but may be wrong.
If you are in the Cotswolds I would get an OS map of your area and look for bridleways. Use that to pick out routes.
You also have named routes that are marked by fingerposts that you can follow.
you also have the Malvern and Breedon hills, and I did a route round the Cheltenham area once, forget where it was but its the hills near winchcombe.0 -
You are allowed to ride on bridleways & BOAT's (bridleway open to all traffic)
You are not allowed to ride (or carry) a bike on public footpaths. If you chose to ignore this then ride with caution and be very polite to those walking, you might get an earful.
Private land is deffo a no go, unless you have access granted by the landowner
Basic route I use to get out of town from Weelsby Woods (hope you can follow it, as it's not a GPS trail)0 -
Thanks for that mate, I should of said its the lincolnshire wolds, not the cotswold though.0

take a look here;
www.bikehike.co.uk
whack in your postcode and have a look for bridleways near you that you can link up into a route0 -
Hi - have a look at www.louthnet.com/LAMB for loads of routes around Louth and other parts of the Wolds. There are some really good bits and some less good bits. Unfortunately at this time of year most of the better bits are boggy and unrideable, but we do try and get out twice a week on Weds and Sundays. Most of our routes are tracked and uploaded as .gpx files as well if you have software or a GPS unit that reads them.www.louthnet.com/LAMB - Louth Area Mountain Bikers0
