Nipped in to the LBS today to check progress on my build. Lovely new SRAM Force groupset with carbon cranks now in place with PRO bars. Just waiting on the PRO carbon seat post and stem and carbon levers for the SRAM. Have to say the SRAM is completely different to ones advertised on the internet with certain bike emporiums. They may be cheap but as was explained to me, they're using parts from Rival groupsets or 2009 stock in order to meet those prices.

Build should be finished mid January because of delivery delay with the seat post.

Delivery delay with seatpost? Just take the bike and wait for the seatpost. Surely you can put it in yourself. Even I could do that.

Yes I can do that, but I came out of hospital on Tuesday after having an impinged shoulder operated on so I can't ride a bike for six weeks anyway. Shop have said they'll put any old stem on if I find I can manage to ride a bike inside the six weeks.

Better to have it at home than in the shop. Then you can sit and look at it endlessly. :D

And it may well come to that, believe me. Can't quite convince the wife to let me hang it on the wall in the lounge though.

I'd keep it in the shop - just think of all the other things you see that you might need while you're visiting.... :D

That simply isn't going to happen. The full build will have cost me near to £3,500.
    Basso Astra carbon frame
    Basso carbon headset
SRAM Force group set with SRAM Red chain
    Pro ally bars
Pro carbon seat post and stem
    Mavic Cosic carbon wheels
    Keo 2 max carbon clips
    Cabling
    Intake seat
    Tyres and tubes
All = a lot of money. One light bike with someone in need of losing a few pounds riding it. Especially after christmas, far too many black tie dinners and what will have been a long lay off.
