pro2 on 717's?

or pro2 on DT XR400?

any pros/cons to either?

    Neither, Pro2s on Crests, significantly lighter, easier to run tubeless, tougher.

    Mavic rims are incredibly dated now, the XC717 is basically the X317 from 15 years ago, DT rims are rather prone to denting.
