Digital Notepad/Tablet PC??

Hi all,
I want to be able to take notes for meetings at work and then store them as digital files or convert to text.
Digital notepads look ideal but all info I find seems dated so unsure if these have been replaced but also not sure I need all the functions of a tablet pc as I have a laptop, Iphone, bought the Mrs an IPAD and also not sure if you can just get a pen to write on the screen anyway. Don't want to spend a fortune either, as it's for work was hoping to spend less then £100 if possible.
Anyone have any recommendations or use something similar?
