Just attempted to eat some steak and kidney pie. Gave up after three sniffs.

Am i being childish? Whats the general concensus on kidney these days, do any of you still eat it much?

(It smells like public toilet on a plate.)

brains in a chippy carton with clingfilm over the top is a staple in french super markets.
as are shrink wrapped skinned, complete rabbits, with eyes.

I think people just made more use of animals, there is so much horrible waste these days. :( it's one reason for intesive farming, I can remeber my mam buying most of a chicken, You cook, it makes sunday lunch, sandwhiches for a few days, then the carcass was used to make stock, which could be used for a good country chicken and veggie soup or anything.

We have become a wasteful society, I mean liver and kidneys and so on are actually really good for you..

I'd have no problem eating liver or heart, its not so much the fact that its internals that puts me off, just the smell from kidney, i must have got a strong one in my pie...

thats why we invented chicken nuggets and corned beef, no wastage there.

take all the good bits off and then jetwash the remaining carcass and squidge the filtered connective tissues into a pleasing shape = yum yum.

I'm part of the last few school years to enjoy the wonder that is turkey twizzlers. At the time we'd of happily taken the connective tissues on the plate in their raw form over those monstrosities.
  • Alot of the left over stuff we think of is actually very good for you, until its jet washed off and reformed, I mean on a chicken those clingy bits are awsome for stock....

Oh theres nothing wrong with it, it tends to be the things they add during the processing that are. Huge amounts of salt being the primary culprit.

I love pretty much all offal.

You haven't lived until you've had a lamb's tongue salad with a side of tripe, Sicilian style.

Another fave is griddled calf liver in Simpsons on Cornhill - yum!

I also like game, rabbit, woodpigeon (from the garden), patridge etc - anyone else?
