Failsworth / Daisy Nook or Canals

I've not cycled for 2 years, and to tell the truth, the last time I did it was on a road bike. I miss mountain biking, but I find it quite lonely going about by myself. I know there is a group that goes around Daisy Nook in Failsworth (Manchester) however haven't seen any details for them.
I'd be particularly interested in joining up with other adult newbies who are relatively unfit (I'm 17st and trying to get down to 12st). I haven't got my cadence right yet, so atm I've found it difficult to keep speed up going up hills. If there are people out there who ride around this area of know of groups that do, please let me know either through here or private message

Edit:- I forgot to mention that as I work 9-5, I'd only be able to join up either at the weekend or from 6pm during the week (preferably only during the summer for the weekdays)
