HI - anyone in the Afan area, or riding yesterday / today? Would like to get some local knowledge on getting there and the state of The Wall, Whites Level etc.

Thanks for any insight before I drive from Surrey. :)

I was there on Saturday and Sunday and depsite snow and ice everything was open.
I guess give them a call to be sure .

Conditions - both trails will contain compacted snow and ice.
On Sunday the Energy section of Whites was very sketchy due to ice, it was just about rideable and you certainly couldn't ride flat out 100%.
The rest of the trail conditions were patchy frozen ice and compated snow.

Would I drive a long distance to ride there - probably not. I would wait for it to thaw out.

there's been no more snow in cardiff, not sure about swansea way. but it is fookin freezing!!!!! a maximum of -2 today apparently.

not sure what it'll be like on the trails though
  • Was fine on sunday rode W2.

fair bit of ice and you had to ride steady but still fun. If you plan a longer route take alot of food that cold makes burn energy at 3 times the normal rate easily.
  • Great, thank you all
  • Think I will wait a bit. Cmwcarn was same conditions and that wasnt worth the trip. Guess I will wait until its warmer (puts bike away until April)
  • we've got a trip to cwmcarn planned for sunday.... bah, sure it'l be fine.

did afan last wk end and apart from being cold and a small amount of ice, was fine.
