novotel. stayed there in may. it's a block away from times square, which you can see from the outside bar. although if your going in jan in might be a bit nippy.

hmm, lots of choice. Personally i'd avoid staying too close to timesquare its a nightmare walking around there at anytime, its just super super busy. The marriot on timesquare is a dump too.

I'd stay closer to the park.

Hotels wise without knowing a budget its tricky. Last time I stayed there I was at the shoreham which is reasonabley priced imho for nyc and its in an excellent location. Bit small though.

Maybe not the first on on this list. It's near Times Square.

Mandarin Oriental if you have deep pockets....otherwise The Royalton was quite right on trendy and a bit different. Not been there for a long time though.

Renaissance Times Square, went at end of Feb for 3 nights (4 for full days) and paid £550 each including flights (direct with contintental) booked through Virgin Holidays and that included transfers.

I would have absolutely no doubt in staying there again, which I hope to do in the near future. Hotel was amazing, location was amazing and it wasnt too busy at all.

We flew on 25th Feb which was the cheapest period between Dec - Apr, not sure if it would be the same next year.

Snowiest Feb in NY history, 4th highest amount of snow in Central Park ever recorded and was below zero all the time.

  • There are quite a few nice hotels, I stay in Jamaica Queens last time I was there, and the holiday inn I was at I highly do not recommend. I heard gun shots a few times at night, and on morning while having my breakfast a crackhead got into a fight with a cop right outside the door for the lobby and pulled a gun on him. Very interesting trip though.

Do you not think only 3 days is not quite long enough? With jetlag you'll be sleeping weird times when nothing is open, and in general just be confused about time of day.

I've stayed in the following NY hotels:

    Marriot East Side:

Bit of a dump TBH and not up to usual Marriott hotel standards.

    Waldorf Astoria:

Very nice hotel, but stupidly expensive.

    The Benjamin Hotel:

Probably my favourite out of the three.

i can't mind the hotel we stayed at but it was up near central park, we went at xmas time few years ago, absolutely amazing to be there, times square is awesome at xmas and all the shop displays are stunning, go to the rockafella tower (much cheaper than empire state) grand central station, lower manhattan, statten island etc i'll try find some pics from when we went for you

  • Bryant park hotel, stayed there for a week with my wife in septmber.
Not far from times square, very chic.
My advice would be to have a look at some of the reviews on trip advisor for peoples recomendations.
Don't spend too much time searching however as the sheer scale of choice will blow your mind :D

not really being a pussy, more of wanting to enjoy the trip and not waste it having to sit and take breaks cause your knackered.

I lived in NC for a while, and came to England every summer, the first day or 2 of the trips I was knackered because sleeping pattern was fooked.
