Leslie Nielsen

Sad day for comedy fans. Such a big big shame. Now we'll never know if sally decker was innocent.

"... but that's not important right now"

Before 'Airplane' he was a 'serious' actor - I loved 'Forbidden Planet'.

    My comedy hero. Gone. :(
  • Surely the most classic line is from the first 'Naked Gun' movie. As the gorgeous Priscilla Presley is standing on a loft-ladder, Frank looks upwards and utters the brilliant;

    'Mmmm - nice beaver'.

'Thanks' replies Priscilla, 'I've just had it stuffed'

at which point she hands down the aforementioned animal! Superb!

Comic genius - everytime I see one of his films I pick up on something new. On the plus side I think my Sky+ will be full of some of the funniest movies of all time in the next few weeks.
  • absolute king of deadpan comedy, Police Squad (in color) was superb. hopefully the series will get another airing now.

    RIP fella

My favourite line of his. Can't think why the BBC missed it in their tribute to him on the Breakfast News today.

Christ wasn't as good as Leslie Nielsen?

Bit controversial, but I'm with you.

That article mentions one of my fave ever Nielsen lines...

Witness: "Yeah, he was a white guy, moustache, about six foot three"
    Nielsen: "Awfully big moustache"
  • Tanya Peters: You're all man. I like that in my men.
Frank Drebin: You're coming on to me big time, sister. You're preying on me like a kitten with a fresh mouse. And we got a problem.
    Tanya Peters: You're Jewish?
Frank Drebin: No. You're Rocko's girl, and in my book that chapter's called "look but don't touch."
Tanya Peters: I could have two lovers.
Frank Drebin: Kinky. But I like my sex the way I play basketball, one on one with as little dribbling as possible.

And this should be the great mans epitaph:

Cheer up, Ed. This is not goodbye. It's just I won't ever see you again.

In honour of the great man, I was going to watch Stan Helsing tonight. But I've just heard that it's not very good.

I'd hate for anything to tarnish my memory of this legend. Can anyone confirm either way?

I once watched this film with someone who laughed annoyingly & ostentatiously at every joke except this one!

I've generally approved of Beaver/s ever since.
  • What a sad day indeed, bit also glorious. What a legacy he has left, a comic genius. RIP Shirley.
  • Don't forget SciFi classic Forbidden Planet, his breakthrough film I think.
