Ok guys (and girls) looking for a good warm l/s baselayer for the winter months.
Budget 30 - 40 quid.
Merino or manmade?
DHB or Endura or anyone else?
Cheers all

My local TKMax had some Bamboo fibre base layers on sale. Super soft and similar anti-bacterial properties to wool. And best of all only £14 for a long sleeved top. :-)

They also had some merino tops in stock as well.... but a little bit more money at £25.
Cool, retro and sometimes downright rude MTB and cycling themed T shirts. Just MTFU.

  • Helly Hansen Hybrid baselayer for me.. toasty warm but keeps you dry where you need it..
  • +1 for the Baa Baa.. .very good (until I came off and ripped the shoulder in the first week of owning it...)

I tend to use a Howies NBL light, either short sleeved or long sleeved depending on the temperature. Not cheap but nice fitting, good quality merino.

+1 - this works a treat for me - I was out in -5 yesterday and with this and other layers on top was fine

I have both the Howies NBL and the Endura Baabaa base layer. The Howies is a better cut, it has a droptail and is cut slightly longer than the Endura. It is also cut higher around the neck. The Endura is very warm and very good at what it does, the cut around the shoulders is nicer than the Howies, but if I was to looking for another base layer I'd buy Howies again
