Loads of snow. The trouble is it will freeze tonight making it virtually unrideable. I went last year after it had frozen and fell off three times just riding round the dams! If you do venture up there it will take twice as long to do your route and don't venture into the hills on your own.0

The conditions were wet and boggy last weekend...very boggy. If the snow disappears and it's just frost frozen then it'll be as good as it gets in winter. We're doing a night-ride there on Sat 4th,Cutgate might be a goer if the ground is frozen 8)
BTW I don't mean Icy frozen,I mean frost frozen.
We did Cutgate 3 times in 2 weeks in January the year before last as it was perfect, cool, crisp, hard and fast 8) 8)0 -
cheers, did it twice before with snow on the ground, see flickr below.not too fussed about it being bit slippy, got used to that , reckon it improves it some time as the muddy bogs freeze over. was more concerned about the depth of any snow, although looking at the peak webcams it dont appear too bad.will see if any one can report back tomorrow.0

Ratty did cutgate today mate and said all the boggy stuff was nice and hard and there was about an inch of snow in places, hope that helps.0

Yep, maybe an inch of fresh snow plenty of ice where the streams are. Bloody fantastic! As for unrideable, far from it...

Rivelin Valley, Wyming Brook, Stanage Pole, down the causeway and back up the Stanage bridleway this afternoon- absolutely stunning conditions, mud all frozen, snow nice and grippy- not slippy slush only problem was water ice on the causeway, my mate rode it without a problem but I couldn't even stand up! Super trip out, finished in the dark with off road lights.Road: Scott Expert
Mountain: Genesis Altitude 10

Damn, the peaks just look great no matter what weather eh? especially when its frosty/smowy! Roll on weekend0

Not sure if Edale was the right choice or not, a little overnight snow on top of ice made it a bit dicey to say the least,Jacobs was a complete ice over and was only for anyone with a death whish,

Ratty - The snake is closed and so is the woodhead however I went for a ride up the Longdendale Trail (with the aim of going onto the Northern Horse Track) today and saw some lorries on the Woodhead so it may be passable. Where were you thinking of going for said night ride?
Conditions in Glossop are snowy and hard work but uber fun . However you cant really go high due to big drifts and lots of hike a bike. Wooded areas are fun, mostly even snowfall and most of all protected from the wind!

Jacobs ladder looks fun in those pics.0

From the top section to where it first level off was solid ice, there after that until the gate was large patches or rivers of ice , mostly covered with snow, after the gate mostly snow with the odd bit off ice ,just to try an catch you out, probably all 1ft at least under snow by now going on what fell here today.0

I was debating Cutgate as a night ride, not done it since last winter at night. In fact, we cut the ride short last time, the passes had not long been open and there was still a lot of snow on the trail, filling the trail along the Mickledon edge part and at the same angle as the slope... Not a right lot of grip, and the other thing, with the thaw slowly coming in, it was melting underneath first which meant quite few OTB moments when the snow on the rideable part of the ride gave way...0

There is now over a foot of snow on the road outside my house0 -
went to the peaks yesterday (ladybower area) the conditions were perfect, a little muddy on top of hard pack frozen ground mostly and hardly any snow + there was hardly anybody there! a brilliant days riding again. thanks Ibbo for putting everyone off0
-
Its quite grippy on the lower levels but up over the tops it is either sheet ice or hard packed frozen snow. Be careful and watch out for ice that you cant see.

Planning on going up here mid next week some time, probably ladybower this time, was wonder on how the mud is doing, mainly the descent from WLT , is there an alternative descent ? seen on monkeyspoon there is a track c they call mono6ti that seams to come down to the back of the ladybower inn looking at the video ,0
