Gatorskin tyres ?

Hi, i am thinking about getting some 700 x 25 Gatorskins for my road bike (recreational use) only.
Anyone know how they measure up width wise ?
The reason i ask is i have some 700 x 38 Conti tyres on a hybrid and they actually measure 32mm so do Gatorskins come up narrower than the size suggests ?

I have a set of wire bead 700x23 Ultra Gatorskins that are indeed 23mm wide (3yrs old).

Just measured my folding 700 x 25 Gatorskins and they're bob on 25mm at 100 psi.

Damn fine tyre by the way.

forgive me if this is unnecessary, but as I understand it the 38mm refers to the height above the rim, not the width. I have found tyres vary in shape so that some are nominally big but do not put much rubber down when hard, like pasela, or the reverse, like most mtb tyres.

I have always been under the impression the 23/25/38/etc. measurement is the width of the tyre, not the height...

I have just read this and you may be right

Sheldon says it is the width. I think I got this idea from the fact that the wheel sizes such as 27inch, 700mm are based on the outside diameter of a typical tyre.
Down the years I have found that the different makes do have different shapes and the nominal size is not trustworthy. If you have a very close fit you may have to stick with the same type of tyre or take a risk of the new one not fitting.

I just realised I'm pretty sure I have 25's on my bike which is in the house right now, I'll measure them for you shortly!

EDIT: Mine are 23's, sorry!

Has anybody fitted 700 x 25 Gatorskins on the Boardman Team Carbon Richey Pro wheels
is there enough clearance when they are fitted on the Boardman Team Carbon ?

I've got the 23s on mine and there's loads of room. Got Corsa Ex 25 tubs on my pro carbon race prepared and again, loads of room.

Thanks Jon Mack, it looks ok to me also, there seems to be plenty of clearance on the TC
I want to try a set of 700 x 25 Gators on it for the rough roads and Winter.
