A good watch for cycling

Can anyone recommend a good watch for commuting? Now it's getting dark mine isn't much good and has started steaming up in the cold!
It needs to be visible in the dark, and have a stop watch and I quite like gadgets and gizmos so anything snazzy would be good! Doesn't need gps though, mainly to keep the cost down a bit!

Old plastic Swatches are great, I have one for cycling in. It has a big 35mm face, white background with black hands and numbers so it's really easy to read, and it glows in the dark.
Doesn't have a stopwatch, but you can pick them up cheaply on ebay (mine was £4).
The Swatch Irony chronograph/chrono has a stopwatch - again, ebay is your friend.0 -
I use a Casio digital when touring. Their G-shock range is highly rated.0

I have a G Shock and love it.
Just been on the website and saw this beauty:
Solar powered and uses the atomic clock to ensure time is always accurate
I bet its pricey.Specialized Roubaix Pro Expert 2020

Timex Ironman watches are good. Completely waterproof and they illuminate well. You can even get ones with hands over the top of the digital time and you can turn the digits off so it looks a bit more normal.0

Just out of interest, why do you want a watch for commuting? I prefer to keep my eyes on the road0

Can't you just take your mobile out of the pocket, check the time and carry on?0

Well, yes.. Of course... but if I'm riding at that speed I'm not in enough of a hurry to be worried about the time! I also find that the backlight on my 'phone dazzles me, so I can't see the road properly.
...and what would be the point of cycling? Might as well just walk and not have the extra hassle of the bike.
Cheers,

I have a Casio WaveCeptor WVQ 110TDE.
Titanium case and band. Easily readable. Never have to sync it. Solar assisted.
Elegant for nights out too.0 -
But only if you're riding:

Yeah I've got a Casio WVA-430DU-1AVER. It's a similar thing, solar powered and sets itself automatically by the atomic clock so updates itself for daylight saving etc and never goes wrong. Stainless steel body and strap and is waterproof so I can shower the sweat off it at the end of the day...Do not write below this line. Office use only.0 -
You can't go wrong with any of the G-Shock series....0

And how much do they weigh? I'm sure you could save a few grammes going with something smallerDo not write below this line. Office use only.0 -
i wear one of these Casio watches from Argos.
Cheap as chips, waterproof and battery life is about 3 or 4 years. Dont bother replacing the battery just buy a new one.
Plastic straps are easily washable instead of metal which will corrode or material which start to smell of stale sweat after a while.
Can't beat it.FCN = 40 -
think i might go for a g shock watch, i need it for other things too, gardening, diy and other things like that that need it to be robust and the like! i've found these:

G-SHOCK all the way, Take whatever you throw at them.
I have this one, personally didn't see point of paying a £20-£30 premium for solar powered when batteries last years anyway. My previous G-SHOCK was still going strong on original battery after 6 years, I only got a new one as it was getting tatty after hard use at work but still worked perfect. They're pretty accurate too without the radio controlled bit.

I agree! G-shocks are quality watches. Had mine just over a year now, very happy with it, wear it all the time. It is rock solid and absorbs everything. Mine still looks 'as new'.
I got this one...

Cheaper than the ones you linked, and just as awesome!0 -

That's the beauty of solar or kinetic powered watches they never run out of power so you never need to change the batt. As for the strap corroding, watch straps are stainless steel or perhaps titanium so never corrode. I wash mind in the shower with me and it never smells and metal is stronger than plasticDo not write below this line. Office use only.0
