Had a visit from the fairy this morning. Whilst fixing, I noticed the tyres are cutting up fairly badly now the roads are a mess (Michelin Krylion carbon). I noticed this slit of approx 1cm all the way through the tyre

Do I need a new tyre and if so, is it ok to ride for the time being?

  • If money is tight , super glue the cut then stick a bit of old tyre on the inside.

or buy a Vittoria Zaffiro - only a fiver - which is what I commute on

That'd be a write-off in my book. I wouldn't like the idea of 120psi pressing against the inside of that cut as I'm doing 3omph plus down hill.

  • With decent tyres starting at just £15 these days no contest, new tyre, less than 3 packs of cigarettes or three pints I understand, fortunately I neither smoke nor drink.

    Yep, new tyre.

I used to use Krylion Carbons, but found they cut up badly. Wouldn't buy them again. IME, I'd rank them below Gatorskins.
    FCN 2-4.
