Ribble winter frame question

Hello all,

Santa is bringing me one of these for Christmas. I'm going to transfer all my running gear over from my existing (knackered) winter bike.

Does this frame need any preparation? For example, does the bottom bracket need facing?

Or is it ready to build up straight out of the box?

Cheers

When I got mine the headset was fitted but I did face the bottom bracket shell before fitting an external bottom bracket. I also chased the threads as well but I just like to make sure everything is OK.
  • Thanks RayW

I thought I'd ask the question here as at least it may show up in google for others with the same query - otherwise Ribble end up answering the same question for each individual...

    Cheers.
  • I got one last week and the BB was faced and was ready to build out of the box
Very nice frame for the money...exceptional value.

I purchased mine last year so it is good to know that they are now facing the shell.

I bought mine five years ago, just before outboard bearings became common so the shell wasn't faced. However, it is one of the best prepared frames I have ever bought, all the threads nice and clean and the bottle cage and mudguard bolts greased before fitting. A nice smooth seat tube too, no burrs around the edge of the clamp slot which are often a pain in new frames.
