I have been looking at these bikes can't make up my mind

Boardman Comp 2010 £629
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... zone=PDPz1

Focus Variado expert 2010 for £665
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/focus-variado-e ... 0-ex-demo/

I was looking for a decent light bike with 105 group set or better for short and long distance rides.

Any suggestions on bikes in and around the price range would help also, especially if you see any great deals !!

Many Thanks

  • If you would be willing to accept a Tiagra group set SINTESI due a X1 Pro for £799.
The focus sounds like a good buy as well. Boardman are good but you will be associated with Halfords which maybe an issue for you or not.

  • I bought a Boardman Road comp a few weeks ago, It is a great bike very light and fast, I will be buying another one. :D
  • I will point it out just in case you do not know but the Boardman does not have a 105 groupset!

The only part that is 105 is the rear mech but the rest is Tiagra 9 speed, nothing wrong with Tiagra at all but if you are looking for 105 to get the 10 speed then miss out this Boardman.

If you live in a hilly area and are new to road bikes then the 30 speed Focus might be better than the 18 speed Boardman.

My personal choice would be the compact gearing of the Boardman but you pay your money you get your choice.

Finally, you would be able to test ride the Focus for up to 30 days whereas unless you have a kind manager at Halfords you will be limited to sitting on it in the shop as they don't allow test rides.
  • focus all the way mate, from what i hear its only worth getting a boardman if you have it set up by a proper bike shop i.e not halfords.

plus you've seen my cayo and i love it
