High initial capital investment for long term overall financial gain - you know it makes senseFaster than a tent.......0 -
Low initial capital investment for long term overall life expectency if wife ever found out!- you know it makes sense0

I've got one, not as a winter bike, but will be my bestest bike forever. Until next winter, when I decide I will relegate the Ribble to winter and get a new bike, which seems to be law.
I love it. to be honest if you've got your heart set on it, and you get swayed by other peoples recommendations, you'll always be thinking if only.
Don't tell Mrs Whizzer how much I spent on mine and i won't tell Mrs 208454 about yours. Deal?0 -
Deal Whizzer!!
Whats it like to ride?? comfy to ride all day etc?? do you have the sram? ive gone for pretty much as it comes, pro-lite wheels, vittorio tyres etc etc!! any recomendations??0 -

Errr??? explain please smoking??? You being a experienced roadie have obviously spotted something a miss!!! is sportive not the correct terminology?? im looking to the northernrock next year is this not a sportive?????? :oops:0

The sportive bit is correct, but a sportive is not a competitive event. It is a mass participation ride with timing available. Some people go flat out under the impression it is a race, most will ride at there own pace so finishing "1st" or "101st" is meaningless.
If you want competition I'm afraid you have to take out a licence and pin the number on the back of your jersey rather than the front. I was not having a go at you, but there is a worrying trend among many riders who believe that sportives are some sort of race, which they definately are not. They are no more than a glorified clubrun.0 -
Ok mate cheers for that!! see you learn summit every day!! to be honest i probably would'nt get far if i went flat out anyway0

I'm feel very comfortable on it, it's not the most relaxed frame but I have no issues on it.
I went for a self build and spec'd 105 (5700), with a little bargain hunting I saved on Ribbles prices and had the fun of learning how it all goes together and to take it apart when it needs a bit of TLC.
I wouldn't like to steer you on wheels etc but there are a million threads here that might. Maybe try the bike builder option and fit Mavic Askiums?.0 -
Cheers Whizzer!! looking forward to getting out on it! think i might stay with pro-lite wheels until i get a liitle more cash in the old sky wallet!!0
-
I have looked at the cheap carbons also but when do you stop?? and i think the value for money for the ultralite is outstanding!!0
-
I think the weight difference between the ultralite and there entry carbons is next to nothing!! and your correct its nothing a few less Guiness will not sort out :oops:0

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh lovely. Well done mate.
I am going to get the Ultralight or the more sensible for my purposes - commuting - winter trainer.
How does it ride?
How heavy is it?
Did you have any issues with the sizing?
Any chance of posting up some pics?
Hope you enjoy riding it! I'm green with envy!0
