Meta 5

Right I test rode the Meta 5 today, took a long time setting it up, Put my own pedals on and everything, and Hated it, just plain hated it.
I thought it was skitterish, too tall, I felt like I was sitting on the rear wheel the whole time, it climbed well, but downhill it was just nervous.
Oh and on the way uphill the chain broke and bent the hanger.
I really wanted to like this bike - is there something wrong with me?

The chain is just bad luck, but you have done the right thing by testing it. Some people don't like certain geometries, this goes for all bikes.
Was the suspension correctly set up, and the reach ok?0 -
Its is a tall bike I'll give you that lol.
I'd have to completely disagree with you though... its crap at climbing and pretty quick going downwards
Its taken me about 4 proper rides to tweak the suspension properly though....0 -
Nervous horses yes, bikes no, rider input maybe?
Point my Meta down and there's no nerves rider or bike, that's what it was designed for.Now where's that "Get Out of Crash Free Card"0 -
Its not as slack as some though, 68 degrees with a 140mm fork is middling at best.0

The early bikes with the triangle rear arm were brilliant (I know I had one) the later single arms were fraught with issues....to be honest there are better bikes out there for the same money...try a Trek EX8, Mondraker Factor or Foxy R....or the Marin Mount Vision...after these you with totally forget the Meta !0
