My deal fell through with the Allez...
Looking around for another I keep seeing a few pounds between 2006-2010,I expected £100 difference but I've seen 2007's at £375 and brand new 2010's @ £399 BNIB.
I was told it's because the 2006/7 had better components, but surely for the same(ish) money most people would opt for the newer bike, please educate me,thanks...yours conFUsed...

If you check out the price of groupsets, and the differing quality you get depending on what you pay, you`ll see why people say get the earlier bikes.
Plenty about that have seen hardly any use, people buy these bikes, have a grueler on their first ride (they realise you have to actually expend energy to make them move in a forward direction :? ) and then the bike gets stuck under a sheet and left. 2007 / 2008 models seem to be the ones to go for, certainly in the bikes I`ve got, you get a lot more for your money than the new 2010 / 2011 models.
eg. 2007 model Specialized Allez Elite has carbon rear end with Zertz inserts, full carbon steerer and fork with Zertz, the frame looks just like earlier model Roubaix, quite an expensive bike . The latest model of Allez Elite has a basic alloy frameJens says "Shut up legs !! "

Appreciate the reply..would a "leisure" cyclist notice the difference..
I supose I'll have to judge the "wear and tear" usage by eye, surely worn out 2006/7 equipment would be worse than new 2010 gear??
Just asking the questions I'm asking myself.
Thanks....0 -

Probably not.. so go for an Allez in best nick ata price you want to pay.
On the other hand every time I go to the shed and pick up my C'dale Synapse carbon, I do appreciate the difference.
Riding and training on my Allez in winter time just gives me an inner glow.0 -
I have choices in the offing...
1/2011 allez sport, suspected bought via the r2w scheme,so the warranty probably not transferable £500.
2/2008 allez sport £375.
3/2010 allez sport from a shop £509.
4/2011 allez from the same shop £475....
I think I'd prefer to buy brand new with warranty...so 4 is my favoured..opinions please..and thanks for your time...0 -
TheTriStore in Eastbourne have some of the 2010 entry level Allez's at £399 if that's of interest ... They're nice people to deal with too.
Good luck - I'm still riding my 2005 Allez Elite so they do last well.
