I'm considering an Expert 2010 which is on sale for £2000 (rrp £2499), however I have also seen the Pro model for £3000 (rrp£3999).

They both seem to have the same frame (10r carbon)but the pro has mavic ksyrium elite wheels, titanium saddle, carbon handle bars, dura ace shifters, crank and rear mech. The expert has ksyrium equipe wheels and full ultegra.

Wondering whether to go for the pro. Also is there much difference between the 2011 SL3 frame and the 2010 as both are 10r carbon?

  • Even better deal here, which is what I bought earlier this year:

They have the 2009 Tarmac Pro for £2799, which comes with the Kysrium SL wheels (model up from the Elites). It has a mixture of SRAM Red/Force instead of Dura-Ace/Ultegra, making it lighter than the 2010 model (mine weighs 7.0kg without pedals). I believe the 2009/2010 frames were identical, so you're getting a better bike for even less money. I really like the SRAM shifters - a bit louder than Shimano but very precise shifting.

If you're wondering about Certini they own several of the Specialized Concept Stores (including the Plymouth Concept store where I got mine). Also I haggled down to £2700 without much difficulty).

They show stock for 54cm and 56cm, so not sure if this suits you?

I second DGStewart's suggestion - the 2009 with the Ksyrium SLs and SRAM Red is the one to go for ... unless you don't really want to spend that much - if that's the case I would choose the Tarmac Expert at £2k - they're a good bike.

    Hope that helps.
