I have spent months finding the best cycle jackets for price, and whilst my sons and I have always used Mac in a Sac when camping and cycling, they are superb, and NOT to be confused with cheap imitations, SPEG also do a great range.

These will NOT keep you warm and are for using in the rain over existing clothing.

Speg are very good in so far as the storage pocket for the coat is part of the jacket, AND you can unzip the sleves to leave a safety vest.

I and my sons have the blue and http://www.cycle-clothing.co.uk/Product ... i-viz.aspx which is in fact more a high vis yellow when it arrives.

For extra waterproofing I use this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NIKWAX-TX-DIRECT- ... 5192883b59 don't spray it on, place your jacket/s in a bucket, pour over and "wash" the jackets in it, remove after they are fully soaked and hang to dry.

  • Great post , thanks for sharing.

My eldest commuting son and I have been having "jacket" discussions and what I was going to get him for Xmas in light of the dhb Amberley not being available anymore.

    I've just ordered a grey/slate.

I have a super lightweight Howies that folds into its own pocket and is small enough to stick in the back pocket of a pair of jeans (honest!), I suffer badly from 'boil in the bag' syndrome and find the Howies to be great, it also has reflective sections for visability. Doesn't appear on their webiste any more though!

I usually use Meindl walking shoes but these are the best I have ever found and the grip for cycling is second to none.

Sorry I didn't say that they are "unisex" so mine has the zip the other way round, that is normal for these, just in case you think it is wrong, also what I like about this company is the NO quibble returns policy. I had to return a wrong one I ordered, refunded within 24 hours including postage.

I now have three, two yellow and a blue, superb. They fit a seat bag.
