Hi All,

What are the peak district riding conditions like ATM as I'm hoping to be heading over there on Wednesday for a blast.

Any particular routes to go for or avoid due to the conditions?

Thanks,

Louis

  • please checkout the riding conditions with our webcams! they update around once a minute so hope that helps! http://www.peakdistrictwebcam.co.uk
  • Jadcoz - They're nice pictures but they don't really give me much of an idea of the trail conditions.....thanks anyway,
  • Havent been over for a few weeks, but will be going this weekend.

Id suggest what with the recent rain etc that avoiding Cut Gate would be a good idea. The classic Ladybower route will still be good, albeit a bit of a bog fest at the bottom of Winstone Lee Tor before you drop down to the Ladybower Inn id imagine.

The Peak conditions will be as usual for this time(or any summertime over the last few years  ) with just the wooded areas and Whinny Lee Tor being a bit boggy 8)

It's getting wider towards the bottom, last there about 3 weeks ago and there tomorrow so it'll be interesting to see how the rains affected it.

I wonder how long it will be before they hardpack the lot of it? I used to enjoy just going round the dam's because it was quite rough going!

We did a loop to the west of Edale on Sunday. The rocky trails were, err rocky, same as usual.

The few trails we did that were peat were getting really boggy. I am not sure they get much better in summer though in my very limited experience.

Well we did Whinstone Lee Tor Sunday and TBH it's about as bad as it gets. We'll now be leaving well alone until it dries out or go up instead of down that bit.The boggy section near the bottom was just shite, couldn't get and traction or flow.

If we have a good dry summer they dry out turn into fast dusty trails 8) Unfortunately this hasn't been the case for the last few summers

Agreed. We rode it on Sunday too and it was a bit of a mess at the bottom. Prob saw you - what were you riding? :) Not in a massive group were you?

Anyway, ended up doing the classic ladybower route and went up roman road, which was a mistake as thats a boggy mess too. Saw a biker being air lifted off Wooler Knoll on downhill towards Hope Cross - heres to hoping everything was OK with them!

There were 12 of us IIRC,mainly old blokes riding badly  We came down towards the pub.
  • Think we might of seen you - were you/one of you giving your mate some grief for mincing around even though he was on a nomad? :) We were def just ahead of a group at the gate where you ride along the ridge to the start of the descent down winstone lee tor!
