A plunger?
If you want a filter one the Cooksworks one from Agros for £7.50 (I know you said good, but it's cheap) is doing me a treat. Only thing that is not great is the keep warm plate but for that price what else should you expect? I have a microwave.0 -

Nope, a "carp" one would make the coffee taste fishy....0 -

Bodum ones are good, get one bigger than you think 12 cup ideally. If you can afford a double walled one get it if not make sure it's got a metal cage then you can keep it warm on the hotplate. Bodum also have spares so when you break the glass you can get it replaced.
Better still just get a bean to cup coffee maker, it's the most used appliance in our kitchen and haven't repaid itself in less trips to and better cofffee than Nero's and Starbucks. Go one treat yourself it's Christmas soon.0 -
Alessi make some very stylish ones (but their website prices are ridiculous so shop around).

We've been using one of these for about 8 years - but iirc we paid less that half that much at a local shop. You can get Alessi glass replacements fairly easily, but standard (eg Bodum) glass inserts also fit.

I've also got this espresso maker - the quality is superb. It's the KCNC of coffee kit
