I'd second mech eng, good degree which will set you up with a nice broad understanding of the basics, most companies will train you in any specialised knowledge better than a uni can.
If you do decide to change your focus later on mech eng is a good spring board into a lot of decent industries.
I did mech eng, really enjoyed it and now work in IT which is also a lot of fun.
So it gives you a good grounding, is fun, if one of the more arduous degrees in terms of studying and will be good for jobs after.
Make sure you like maths though.Whether you're a king or a little street sweeper, sooner or later you'll dance with the reaper.

thanks was thinking of this as was usefull to get into automotive ind. aswell allthough a more specific would be better e.g automotive designCube Analog 2012 with various upgrades.0 -
Quite a lot of the bikes and bike stuff are designed by product/industrial designers. I'm one myself and have seen quite a few jobs for industrial designers for SRAM, Trek and Specialized. You would need to get a fair few years experience in the design industry and get a pretty lucky break though!Trek Remedy 7 2009
