The rrp is in the title so why would you pay over that for a smoke damaged helmet.

Excellent, especially as it's available HERE for £69.99 inc. Delivery  [/url]
  • Well if they are genuine bids them more fool them.

Personally to me it just seems like there is something wrong

It happens all the time with Nigerians offering way over the price for you to send it out before they can pay. Although this scam usually occurs with large items, not a 2nd tier specialized helmet...
  • I bet if you put a "mystery box" on Ebay and said it could have anything in it from a packet of Harobo to a Rolex watch you would get at least £10 for it.

The trick would be not to put a Rolex in the box.
    Giant Escape M1....
    Penny Farthing
    Unicycle
    The bike the Goodies rode
    Pogo Stick
Donkey on Roller skates.......OK I'm lying, but I am down to one bike right now and I feel bad about it,
  • Perhaps someone should list a £1 coin and see how it sells?

I once sold this for a laugh:
"Sealed personalised envelope fitted with franked 1st class stamp (worth 25p) Buy It Now £1"
It sold and the buyer left +ve feedback!!

people will actually buy anything. I remember a news program a few years back (probably BBC, can't quite remember) where they sold some old rope on ebay and someone actually brought it (a farmer who realised it was cheaper than new rope to use for bits and bobs) therefore getting "money for old rope" as the saying goes!
  • I once put in a bid for a Thule roof rack. It eventually sold for £5 more then a brand new one, and it had a postage while the new one was free delivery!

There are people who will buy small items to bump up their feedback over the "magic" 10.

Why does it say "No longer registered with eBay" next to the bids? All seems very fishy to me... Probably a money laundering scam or something...

Totally looks like shill bidding and looks like eBay cottoned on and banned them.

Still doesn't explain the one buyer that outbid the shill to win the auction!
  • + 1 for shill bidding - it's obvious that was going on! This is all the justification I need to bid my max ages beforehand, walk away and if you lose so be it, but it means you never get tempted by the last few seconds red mist frenzy. If you want something badly enough bid high enough, if anyone's daft enough to go higher well their loss.
