Hi All

Im thinking of buying my 1st road bike as i do alot of road riding on my mountainbike so after a little help pls......
Im looking at spending around £500 -£600 at the very most ,a few that i do like the look of are these..

Either bike looks pretty good - wouldn't go with the triple though as not much point IMHO you should be OK with a standard or compact chainset if you've been riding a mountain bike.

I would also recommend that you try to get out on both bikes even if its just round the car park of your LBS. As two similar looking road bikes can feel completely different to you than they do to me. Plus on the subject of LBS would check out some that are near you as they are all looking to off their 2010 stock to make way for the 2011 stuff and you should be able to pick up a good deal.

Ok mate,the triple is crossed off the list ..

Yeh will go and try n have a ride before i buy and just had a quick look for sale bike and found this which looks ok

Don't rule out a used bike from ebay or gumtree. Loads of folk buy bikes with good intentions and never use them. I've some real bargains.

If you can stretch your budget a little you might be able to pick up a 2010 Specialized Allez Elite.

Not sure what frame size you need but Hargroves Cycles have 52 and 54cm frames available at £699
