17", widescreen, must be able to be used as a computer monitor.
Basically, the couple of days where I've had my desktop's monitor hooked up to the laptop has got me utterly addicted to having 2 screens, so I need another for when the desktop's up and running again. However, rather than just buying a monitor, I may as well get a TV which can be used as a monitor (as I am intending to get a PS3 at some point, as well as the possibility of maybe watching TV occasionally).
Budget: As cheap as possible. I've just been looking at this, but I fear it's probably crap.
Thoughts?

Freeview would be nice, but not essential. I think I'll have to give Richer Sounds in Brum a ring and see if they can get me one of those, that's a stunning deal.0

That Bravia's only available somewhere in the West Country, nowhere near Birmingham. Further suggestions?0

Stick to a monitor as you will get higher resolution, and just attach a tuner to it!

OK it may not be the answer that you wanted!
but its cheap and even bigger than you asked for!Wheeze..... Gasp..... Ruddy hills.......0 -

what about
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-P2450H-24-inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B002DPYQSW/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1289917058&sr=1-1
has HDMI (if you look on Samsung site), OK the colour is a little naf, but does come in black!
And it looks very 'smart'
With a higher resolution than you will get on a TV of that size (after all TV are just beginning to boast about 1080!)
just an idea

24" is never going to fit on my desk with the other monitor on there too...0

tbh, monitors smaller than 20 inches tend to fall in the budget category, so they often arent very good
therefore:
Samsung f2380m for colour accuracy, general pc use
samsung xl2370 for gaming
Im sure with a bit of juggling a 23 inch would fit0 -
Budget is fine by me... I don't have £200 to spend on this.0

been to PC world/curry/commet and asked about their reconditioned ones?
some bargains can be had."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
