Handlebar stem adjustment possible

Hi

I recently bought a second hand Claud Butler Regent 2010 Tourer. I am used to older bikes and as far as I can see the steerer stem has no adjustment where I expected to find a long bolt there is just a star nut and allen screw. Am I right in thinking that the only way to alter the stem height is to add or remove spacers?

Thanks

Geoff

Yes, changing spacers and also flipping the stem upside down to reverse the angle is a common practice.

Thanks crankycrank looks like I might have to buy another more steeply angled stem to get more height. The existing one is about 100 degrees to the stem.
