Thigh pain

I have pain in the left thigh which starts at the inside of knee and shoots up to groin area.
When I sit down or stand still it gets worse. If I move about the pain kind of go's away.
I had been out and done a 12 mile bike run on the sunday, then on the tuesday on the commute to work i got this pain.
I have rested it and not been biking at all. Tried the hot and cold bath.
Can anybody advise me and tell me the best way to treat?

@pugaltitude - best medical advice on the internet is if it is bad or concerns you see a doctor.
That will be £100 thanks.I don't do smileys.

I am booked in to see the doctor but its a 3 week wait.
I hoped I might be able to do something to cure it myself.
The doctor will say rest but bills have to be paid and all that.
Do you want the £100 in pink elephants or do you take monopoly money?0 -

I would seriously go and see an Osteopath, I went to one last week for the first time and got a lot out of it, plus I felt a lot better after being stretched and stuff, it only cost 37 quid, certainly a lot more than just "rest for a couple of weeks" which is what a Dr would say.0
