Looking for SMALL panniers

Can anyone point me to really small panniers, say 8 litres each or under? I don't want to use a rack top bag. Tried cutting down a pair of front panniers but the restitching etc has defeated me. Have looked on various websites with no success. Surely a gap in the market?

8.5ltr each, trad cotton duck but somewhat pricey

  • Thanks Wooliferkins. I've just now looked these up. As you say, not cheap but I will shortlist them.

Why not use one 16L pannier instead of 2x8L ?
  • You probably know why. Small (modified) alloy rack. Visual symmetry & balance. Two little bags looking better on a light road bike than one big sack?

The Topeak RX series trunk bag / panniers are really tiny - but probably wouldn't fit on a custom rack.

If that's your concern wouldn't an old school saddle bag be more appropriate? (Carradice etc.)
  • Hi MajorMantra, as in my last post in response to pshore, I suppose I'm saying "this is what I'm looking for. Others may carry their bits a different way, but I'm looking for a pair of titchy panniers!" The Gilles Berthoud small panniers would do the trick, or I might even adapt a pair of slim camera bags from deep down the Amazon lists! Thanks to all.

these are 20 l total, but that includes some side pockets. maybe the 2 main sections will be around the 8-9 litre mark each. no need to use the pockets.....
