Maximum shock PSI

Is anyone aware what is the maximum PSI of Giant Air Shock? Came as default on my Giant Yukon FX 3. I wrecked through the manuals that came with it, and nothing is said on maximum PSI. I wanted to set it up and the manual says i need to pump it up to a PSI level that's the equivalent of my weight first, which will leave it at 228psi! I'm not sure it can take it

That's the thing, i don't want to blow it up. The manual did mention a sag of 20% to 30% as an optimal, but that is rather vague.Giant Yukon FX30

Then set it specifically to 25%I don't do smileys.

That will leave it at roughly 170 psi. That was my question from the very beginning - can my shock take it?Giant Yukon FX30

I would assume so, or only tiny people would be able to use them.I don't do smileys.

The bike was cheap (around £700, but cost me 320 thanks to paulscycles) and i just assume its capabilities by price and the targeted use (XC). Well, lets hope it hold out!Giant Yukon FX30

Foxes can take 300 psi, yes I know that "mine aint a fox" but what I mean to say is that you should not be scared of the big numbers.Giant Reign X10

just set the pressure to what you need to get the sag you want.

ofcourse they can take it ... think about it.
the static pressue, what you are talking about is less when compared to what happens when you land on the back wheel from a 12 foot drop off - the pressure in the shock will probaby double or more. (unless of course they blow - I've yet to hear of this happening)
knowing this, never sit on your bike when the shock pump is connected as this will send the pressure off the scale and knacker your pump gauge (no need to ask how I found that out, stupid stupid GGRRR.....)0 -
02 the pressure will also be higher when you compress, so I might suggest your trail of logic may have a flaw in it.
In repsone to the OP.
No-one here seems to know the specific answer, but the suggestions are all the same.
How much do you weigh?
If you are a normal weight guy, using the bike set up normally will be fine.
If however you weigh 15.5 st, then you might be overstressing it.
I do weigh 15st and am running my RP23 pretty high, it just means it will need servicing more often.
So if you are normal weight, worry not.
If you are as big as me, phone Giant and ask them. Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?0 -
Moved from a thread i have just deleted;
I am a pretty heavy bloke, 17st to be exact but it isnt fat so im happy with it!
anyway enough of that justification, does anyone know what pressure is the max on a Float R from about 2 years ago?
I have mine at 250psi and i still get a serious amount of sag.
I took the bike to Spec and they said the bike didnt have anyproblems and my LBS said the same.
Cheers

The max PSI is 300 for the float. But you will be wearing seals quickly. My last shock I ran at 260 and it took 6 months to cavitate.
